    The Great Buddha statue is one of the most iconic Buddhist monuments, located in Bodhgaya, Bihar. What makes it stand out is its height. The statue stands 19.507 meters high, which equals to 64 feet. The monument displays Lord Buddha seated in a meditation pose, which is known as dhyana mudra in Sanskrit. It took 12,000 workers to create this excellent piece of gigantic masterpiece made of red granite and sandstone, over a period of 7 years.

    If you are considering visiting this place, anytime between September and January can be the best time to experience its sacredness. Try to avoid visiting Gaya during the rainy season, as the weather gets to unpredictable. Also, summers are harsh in this part of the world. The statue was inaugurated in 1989, after its foundation was laid in 1982. The inauguration of this humongous work of art was conducted by the 14th Dalai Lama.
