Located just 15 kilometers from the historic city of Bodh Gaya, Indosan Nippon Japanese Temple is dedicated to Lord Buddha. The exquisite piece of architecture was built in 1972. Quintessentially Japanese, the temple follows the design cues from old Japanese palaces.

There are several wooden carvings inside the temple. Buddha’s preachings are spread all over the walls of worship space. One can also find several Japanese paintings that depict the most important even in Gautama Buddha’s life starting from his mother dreaming of the white elephant, Buddha’s childhood, renunciation, enlightenment, etc.

It is one of the most visited locations in Bodh Gaya. Visitors usually come to experience Japanese Buddhism and learn more about Gautama Buddha. Visitors are also allowed to participate in the evening ceremonies. The temple premises also hold a primary school.

The temple transmits a unique vibe of peace and tranquility when you enter through its gates. The temple is accessible all throughout the year. While you are there, feel free to talk to the Japanese monk who is stationed in the temple at all time.
