The fort of Kuthar is located an hour away from the Jubbarhatti airport in Shimla. Some of the sections of the fort are as old as 800 years. The Kuthar fort was originally constructed by Gurkha Kings, when their kingdom flourished in this particular part of the country. However, few sections of the fort are young and not even a century old. The fort is spread over a massive area of 52.8 Sq Km and you shall find springs of fresh-water flowing around the site’s premises. Once you are in Kuthar Fort, there are several other tourist attractions around that you might want to visit. These include Gurkha fort of Subathu, Kunihar, and the famous hill station, Kasauli. The Kuthar fort in Shimla displays incredible Rajasthani architecture and is a true representation of Rajputana art. The beauty of the fort is defined by the arches, colonnades, and convoluted pillars. The interiors of the fort are greatly decorated with delicate wooden carvings and paintings.
