More about maharani temple gulmarg, Jammu And Kashmir and Historical Information
Maharaja Hari Singh was the last king of Jammu and Kashmir. His wife named Mohini Sisodia built the Maharani Temple in Gulmarg in the year 1915. Though the temple has built on a small hill, the USP of the site is that it is easily visible from the elevated positions in the surrounding areas. It is frequented by several devotees. The temple is also called Mohineshwara Shivalaya and is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It reflects the Hindu architecture and is well maintained by the managing committee, Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust. Interestingly, the temple is been looked after by a Muslim man who is well equipped with the knowledge of both Bhagwat Gita and Quran. Though the devotees can visit the temple at any time of the year, yet the best time to catch a glimpse of the temple is during Maha Shivratri. Few restrictions are imposed on the visitors and they are not allowed with weapons, camera, leather items or alcohol within the premises of the temple.
