    Parasnath is one of the most important pilgrimages for Jains. It is a range of hills located in the Giridih district of Jharkhand with the highest peak reaching 1350 meters. Also known as Sammed Shikhar, Parasnath is known to offer salvation a number of Jain Tirthankaras. Some of the temples on the hill are as old as 2000 years old. Nevertheless, although the place was inhabited in ancient times, some of the temples are of more recent origin.

    Parasnath is also a culturally important place for Santhals. They call it Marang Buru, which translates to the hill of the deity.
