More about Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden, Chiang Mai and Historical Information
In Thailand’s Chiang Mai Province’s Mae Rim District, there is a botanical garden called Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (QSBG). It was set up in 1993, and in 1994, the Mae Sa Botanic Garden was renamed the Sirikit Botanic Garden in honor of the Thai monarch.
Twelve greenhouses are located on the 1,000-hectare (2,500-acre) site, making it one of Thailand’s biggest glasshouse complexes. From a hilly location close to the river Mae Sai (at an elevation of around 500 m (1,600 ft)) to the site’s highest point, at 1,200 m, the QSBG spans a considerable area (4,000 ft). Lower elevations are home to dipterocarp and evergreen plants, whereas higher elevations are covered in pine forests.
